About Blue Feather Products

Blue Feather Products manufactures innovative tools designed to solve simple but annoying problems that confront us every day.   Feather and John King started the company in 1980.   Our unique products are primarily the result of Feather’s frustrations  calling forth her creativity. Remember that old saying, “necessity is the mother of invention”?     When she is annoyed that something is not easy to manage or more functional, she ponders, goes into solve mode, visualizes, and networks until she creates a solution.   Grabbit Magnetic Pincushion, which created a niche to handle sewing pins in an entirely new way,  BobbinSaver for easy control of sewing machine bobbins, MyPad for Needles to store partially used sewing machine needles, and Hookey serger seam hook are some of her inventions that are recognized as staples in the sewing arena.    Grabbit magnetic pincushion  continually demonstrates its usefulness to designers in the Project Runway show.   

In 2013 the sewing portion of Blue Feather products was sold to Euro Notions, Inc.  with the idea of semi retirement and possible collaboration on new products, but as time went by it seemed that new ideas were still forthcoming and the desire to make them available to sewists meant renewed marketing efforts for us.  You can see the earlier products at Grabbit Sewing Tools website, and the latest new ideas are offered here at  easy does It solutions.     In addition there are products that solve issues other than those encountered in sewing and we believe these will be also be helpful to our sewing customers.

Feather - Our President and Fearless Leader

Feather is the women behind the curtain, so to speak. Feather works tirelessly to create new and innovative products for our company. At the same time, Feather is always looking into ways to make our existing lines better. Feather is the epitome of a perfectionist and all our products reflect this spirit. When Feather isn't working on Blue Feather Products, she is tucked away in her sewing room working on projects for her  daughter Hilary, or out investigating outdoor gear with her  son Owen.  To relax both John and Feather enjoy watching the latest BBC TV series.

John - Our Vice President and First Mate

John is our so called first mate and makes sure that Blue Feather Products keeps on course. Without John, we would have a whole lot of products with nowhere to go.  John does the books and projections, makes sure we enough material, and works on the multitude of complex paperwork associated with owning a business. On the rare occasion John isn't at his desk into the late hours of the night,  he enjoys immersing himself in historical and political books. He can also often be found tracking the travels of his daughter Hilary, feeding Rugby the dog, and rooting for the home team and sometimes will even venture to San Fransisco to see the Giants play with his son Owen.
